What would our prenatal sessions look like?

After our initial consultation you’ll review the contract and decide if I’m the right doula for you. If so, we’ll schedule our first prenatal meeting! The itinerary below gives you a glimpse at what each session will look like. Those who hire me later in their pregnancy may be limited to the number of prenatals I can schedule. For this reason I recommend booking with me as early as possible. My rate remains the same hiring me (or any doula) sooner rather than later, so you can have the full attention and support for a longer period of time!

Meeting 1

After developing your “Birth Plan” by discussing your intentions, priorities, and expectations for your birth, we’ll work together to sift through any fears or reservations you may have. You’ll be advised of the many different options you have from the provider, the location you choose to deliver at, medications, induction methods, and more.

Meeting 2

Our second prenatal meeting is dedicated to understanding physiological birth and practicing positions and comfort measures to work through each “stage” of labor. We’ll work through meditations and journal prompts to regulate your nervous system, and practice breath work and visualization techniques. I also like to take this session to work with the birth partner through any fears, anxieties, or questions.

Meeting 3

Our final meeting focuses solely on all things postpartum from nesting, building your baby registry, preparing your birth bag, exercises, and habits to aid your future self. If you’d prefer, our final meeting can be substituted with me attending your final prenatal doctor appointment with you.

C-Section Support

C-section Cesarean Doula Scar Baby Hip Holding

Scheduled C-Sections can be just as overwhelming as emergency C-Sections. “How do I prepare?” “What do I pack?” “How can I make my cesarean the most comfortable for me and my partner?”

Studies show that continuous support before, during, and after surgery help comfort and guide you through this experience.

What’s included?

  • Two in-person prenatal meetings where we discuss your options and preparation measures for before, during, and after the procedure

  • I join you at the hospital and stay with you until a few hours after your baby is born. Our time at the hospital is spent…

    • Creating a calming environment within your delivery/waiting room with music, guided mediations, dimmed/warm lights, massages, and other comfort measures you choose

    • If your hospital permits me in the OR, I can help your partner advocate for you to have a “gentle cesarean”

      • one of your arms are free to move, instead of both being strapped to the bed

      • ask for a clear drape so you can see your baby being born

      • ask for EKG leads to be placed on your back so you’re able to hold your baby and have skin-to-skin immediately after baby is born

      • incorporate comfort techniques to keep you calm, such as music, calming scents, and ensuring conversations happening on the other side of the curtain is appropriate and relative

      • Photo and video documentation of birth, if desired
